The start of the journey to Kedar Nath Temple....

I reached the base camp at Guari Kund (1500 mt Height) at around 9AM in the morning and after breakfast started to walk towards Kedar Nath Temple (3600 mt Height) which was 14 KMs away and 2 KMs higher than the Gauri Kund. It was an exhilarating as well as exhausting journey. The views on the way were out of the world which actually it is ... the Himalayas .... At a place where I dropped totally exhausted and lay down spread eagled on a overhang of a flat stone. This stone was overlooking the meandering Mandakini at around 500 meters below...

The rush of the pilgrims was great and many types of them were there.. old people going on in Planquin and some people who are not able to walk up have hired Horses etc... and the rush was on and there was a palpalable spiritual vibrations in the environment... it has to be with so many devotees thinking .. breathing and praying to Lord Shiva.... I had completed Mantra Japa of "Om Namah Shivaya" of around 1,21,000 on my way to the temple which I could reach after a constant walk of 8 hours.....

The spiritual Powers of Kedarnath Baba....

When I reached inside the temple as the person has told me I worshiped Goddess Laksmi and then other deities in the temple and reached at the last…to the Kedar Nath Baba. The power just gripped me and I furiously started chanting mantra Om Namah Shivaya.

The priest inside smiled at me and asked me to go inside and pray to the Lord from there. I could touch the Shiva Linga which was an electrifying experience like a jolt of electric shock. Then the Priest gave me a garland which was adorning Shiva and put it on me and took my sphatic beads and put it on Lord Shiva, making it more powerful. The Lord Shiva’s garland was pure source of energy and I was in the trance for almost half an hour while the priest went about making the Shiva Linga prepared for the night.

It was a great experience.I came to my room in a daze. I sat in meditation for long time and then prepared to sleep… I could see the whole night no difference in sleep or waking hours … The vision I had while closed eyes or open eyes was same.. I was in kind of great happiness… throughout the night.

In the morning I refused to get inside the temple again fearing that it will be looking like greedy after Lord Shiva Himself got me to come to Him through his messenger and gave me a great Darshan. The whole day I was there, was a great spiritual upliftment for me ...

The Historical Temple of Kali at Dakshineshwar Kolkata...

My Visit to the Temple....

I had reached Kolkata for some of my work and I wanted to visit Ganga Sagar and also visit the temple that I had kept hearing a lot about since the time I was a child. I was wondering how Guru of Vivekananda used this place and how he was enlightened and how he was involved in shaping the destiny of millions of devotee’s world wide…

In the year 1847, the wealthy widow queen Rani Rasmani prepared to go upon a long pilgrimage to the sacred city of Banaras to express her devotions to the Divine Mother. In those days there was no railway line between Calcutta and Banaras and it was more comfortable for rich persons to make the journey by boat rather than by road. But in the night before the pilgrimage began, the Divine Mother, in the form of the goddess Kali, intervened. She appeared to the Rani in a dream and said, "There is no need to go to Banaras. Install my statue in a beautiful temple on the banks of the Ganges river and arrange for my worship there. Then I shall manifest myself in the image and accept worship at that place." Profoundly affected by the dream, the Rani immediately looked for and purchased land, and promptly began construction of the temple. The large temple complex, built between 1847 and 1855, had as its centerpiece a shrine of the goddess Kali, but also had temples dedicated to the deities Shiva and Radha-Krishna. (The image is by W. M Carey who was posted in East India Company a that time)

A scholarly and elderly sage was chosen as the head priest and the temple was consecrated in 1855. Within the year this priest died and his responsibility passed to his younger brother, Ramakrishna, who over the next thirty years would bring great fame to the Dakshineswar temple.

On the way to Dakshineshwar Temple of Kali Ma....

In later days, we all are aware about the realities how Rama Krishna derived his Liberation and trance by the touch of the image of Goddess Kali there and acquired the supernatural power and became an ascetic with divine austerity. There also the Cosmic grace of Maa-Kali turned. Ramakrishna as a saint, as an incarnation of Lord Rama and Krishna together in one embodiment. Swami Vivekanand got his blessings and contemplated his preaching globally to serve humanity, to serve all living souls, to serve the Lord Shiva and taking all religions to be one and only one for the God being the one - the power omnipotent.

The morning I went to the Dakshineswar temple… and the throng of devotees was unusually high in number due to an auspicious day. In the Kali temple lot of female devotees were wearing specific Bengali sari which has a red border and the most favorite flower of Kali and goddess Durga ji is a kind of red flower .. it looked so interesting…

Kali Ma at Dakshineshwar Temple....

The moment I went inside the temple, I felt a wave of peace enveloping me. I reached the main temple there was Goddess kali in her full glory with Lord Shiva under her feet, in one of her hands She was carrying the recently beheaded head of the Asura and She with her blood red tongue was looking so captivating… I could not move for some time from the front of her… Her eyes ere flooding my soul with so much warmth that I started feeling perspiration even in the cold of morning. Her gaze gave me goose pimples and I was feeling a wave of reverence reaching out to her and touch her….

I went to the place in front of her idol, and sat down in meditation. Kali ma filled with her divine grace my whole body and was not able to move for some time.. The closed eyes were able to see what went on, on these same premises with so many great souls of Kolkata keeping the fire of knowledge and religious moment burning from here for centuries. I could find their presence a very soothing experience.. then I moved on to the place where they have Shivalinga facing the river Ganga.

... and Holy Ganges meet the vast sea at Ganga sagar...Completing thousands of miles of journey

I have been following ganges on its onward journey from Himalayas to its culmination point.. and finally I did reach Ganga Sagar... The place where ganges meet the vastness of the sea and flow very softly into bay of bengal.

I have had seen the Ganges in its many hues and forms but I was unprepared for its softness, vastness and its grace in meeting its purpose. On its way from the himalayas, on Her specific purpose of fullfilling the need of bhagirath and absalvation of many sinners, She had aquired many forms. From a very joyous boistrous and in perpetual hurrying meandering ways in Himalayas to a soothing clean pious attitude at Rishikesh ... to heavy and slow flow immersed with many sins of the various sinners on its way to varanasi, patna and then to its passing in huble with a depth... the Ganga I find very vast and happy at the ganga sagar....

The place gives one a sense of one's own smallness in the whole drama that is this life.. makes one feel to ge immersed in the soothing water, cleansing ones soul with love of Ganges and get on to the universal soul... The meditation at the mouth of bay of Bengal was uplifting and made me realise the purpose of life and its way.....
